Poundland is a shop where everything is one price - £1. This train set just had to be examined in detail.
What do you get for £1
An oval of track, a power car and three trailer cars. Technically it is a 'plateway' as the track rather than the wheels is flanged.
Power is from a single AAA battery to an electric motor driving one axle through a worm and wheel. Track is serrated to increase traction. Around the drive wheel is a tyre also with serrations.
The tyre is the weak part as it does not fit well so can run eccentric. It probably would be better without the tyre.
